About Daniel Matisis

I welcome those who take on the challenge of psychotherapy, which is not always an easy decision to make. The goal of therapy is to make positive changes, reducing anxiety and depression, improving relationships, and work. However the task is one which does not always provide immediate relief, but often challenges the client to acknowledge and come to terms with difficult aspects of themselves and their situation. My role is to guide you in this process, to help you explore and discover yourself and situation and find new sources of strength and resilience.
Personally, I made Aliyah over a decade ago having lived and grown up in the greater Boston area

In my professional experience I have had the opportunity to work with many clients from different backgrounds, experiencing different issues, at different stages of their life journey.

My experience has shown me that exposure to and having awareness of our culture can be an important aspect of any therapy, just as it is in our personal and familial lives.

--How can psychotherapy help?--

Therapy works by helping patients to recognize and process their personal tendencies and emotional conflicts. Both the recognition of complex personal tendencies and the processing of sometimes difficult emotional material takes time and repetition so that patients may establish a new equilibrium.

The recognition and acceptance of ones emotional tendencies helps to reduce subjective suffering and offers an opportunity to work towards positive changes.

--Therapeutic Approach--

In terms of my approach to psychology, I mainly practice psychodynamic therapy with an object-relations approach. This means that I understand my patients by analyzing various conscious and unconscious aspects of their relationships with others and their relationship with themselves.

Furthermore, I view the human condition, society, and culture as important frameworks that impact the values and pressures clients experience and their relationships.
